The build is very easy, but interesting. When this set was fully assembled, it thought: It is enormous! I had never expected something of this size for $4.99. Then I had to test if it really floats (of course I was sure already, but I had to find out for myself). So I asked mom if I may fill a tub with water. The thing floats very well and thanks to this thing I also found out that sharks also float. The only thing that hinders floating is that if you submerge it and then empty it The back of the boat almost sinks so that the water reaches the minifig's armpits. That is no problem of course, that is my problem and not lego's. (I call the boat semi-submarine because of that. Nice name, eh?) The set is also good for speeder building, the front is great! Even without modifying the boat can be used as a speeder. The minifig is great too but quite common, but than can be expected of a five euro set. The boat is very sturdy but not good for a bath... It was easy for my 5 year old to assemble.Once built it is very strong. If I had the room (then and now) I would have constructed a massive docklands. This speedboat set may be quick and simple to build (thus making it perfect for very young kids) but it's a nice addition to any kind of Lego flotilla you might have sitting on your carpet. It doesn't float, so it'll capsize in the bathtub, though the rounded feet underneath mean it will glide across the carpet easily.I would have used this set in some kind of Jaws plot and have the dude inside gobbled up by a shark. Was I the only kid to have ongoing Lego plotlines? Maybe so. |
