As with other models in the Architecture line, it is built on the micro scale, which means large features are just suggested by the legos that are used. As lego builders know, this is skillful and fully acceptable for lego models. It does, however, limit play value, if that is something you are looking for.For Lego builders, this is the only model Lego makes that gives you a worthwhile amount of the Sand Green 1x1 slopes. These sell on the internet for about $.35 cents apiece, plus shipping. So, you are getting pretty good value in terms of the pieces. I also liked the base, which makes the model look finished and even professional. One weakness is that the landscaping immediately around the gate appears unfinished, with the exposed lego studs unattended. The modeller might improve this with a handful of flat tiles, or a couple of dark green or brown round... Each one is beautiful and each one is fun to put together. Happily this one does not have as many pieces as Fallingwater. I'm 31 and use these pieces for decoration. They inspire me to think about the person who built and the cities they are located in. Everytime I look at one of these, I am transported somewhere else. But now that I am starting to get so many of these (and I want to collect them all), I think it might be time to get a tall thin bookcase for them. This particular piece is great because its only the second one of something outside the US. And since I love Berlin/Germany, I really love this piece. I would love for LEGO to do some more world pieces - Sydney Opera House would be cool if they could do curved pieces. Or maybe something in Japan or China. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Love the series!, By = Durability: = Fun: = Educational: Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: LEGO Architecture Brandenburg Gate 21011 (Toy) My 8-year old son has the whole Architecture LEGO series. He really enjoys buliding all different LEGO sets and the Architecture is his latest. We have every single set of this series (he is currently working on the Robie House), but he has all of them dispayed on shevles in his room. These sets have not been all that challengng for him as we thought they'd be since they are mostly geared toward the 10/12+ crowd, but each set comes with wonderful instructions and a book explaining the history of the building and he really enjoys looking at the boxes, book and his finished products! We are waiting for the release of Big Ben in June of 2012! I think that this is a great way to get kids to learn about some history while having fun building LEGO's...and our 130 lb. Rottie has got his teeth on a few LEGO pieces that have found their way to the floor and they are still in great condition and able to be used - glad the product is durable, especially for the cost! |
