My 5 year old completed this train in very little time, but I feel like it's a great value for a bagged set. There are quite a few pieces, and although most of them are small, they go perfectly together to make a little replica of the Hogwart's Express (which is important since we missed out on buying the actual Lego Hogwarts Express). It's small enough to take along with us, and since there are wheels, it makes a great toy to play with. The only piece that doesn't stay on when my son plays with it is the black funnel at the top, but it hasn't been an issue (and, besides, we have so many of those teeny round pieces so even if we do lose it we could probably easily replace it). I think this makes a perfect little Lego toy for those occasions when you don't want to buy a huge set.
