Yes, you may need to assist on the build, but that's a great opportunity to teach children about reading and following plans. What I especially like about these sets is that they exhibit mechanical functions in a simple and obvious way, AND they hold together better than their brick-built cousins (Lego Technic sets are primarily held together with pins). This set arrived in late 2011 and follows a number of earlier off-road vehicles in the Technic line, notably the Quad Bike from 2006 (#8282) and the Dune Buggy from 2008 (#8296). These sets are larger than mini-figure size and so they are really out of proportion with regular Lego sets (e.g., the City line). At first, I thought that 199 pieces would be a bit small (I have 6 pieces left over after building the quad bike, with the rest presumably for the alternate model), but I was pleasantly surprised at how this build turned out.The kit has great proportions, functionality and realism, and it uses a variety of unique pieces for being such a small set. Good color choices and contrasts among the various pieces as well (the black tires on black rims also look great, as orange and black work good together). The finished quad reminds me of a KTM four-wheeler (I am very fond of KTM dirt bikes, so this kit is even more awesome to me in that regard). Great set, would definitely recommend! This product was purchased for my teenage kids. They fight over who gets to build what with the legos and this was no exception. I love the versatility of legos. Product was delivered on time in the condition expected. This one took longer than the usual 10 minutes to build but the kids love it. |
