4.0 out of 5 stars Beware! May assimilate other board games!, September 13, 2011

When you think about it, the idea of a board game using LEGOs makes a lot of sense. There are plenty of other games that involve building or destroying things - Don't Break the Ice and Jenga being two examples - so it was only a matter of time before LEGO entered the board game market.

LEGO Champion, like most LEGO games, is extremely simple, at least in part because the game is translated into multiple languages. Most of the instructions include visuals, but unlike typical LEGO models the game requires little in the way of design. The playing board is a rectangle made up of black LEGO pieces. The pieces are connected by green LEGO blocks, which also act as spots for each LEGO piece to move.

The game is for three to eight players of age seven and up. The box includes nine LEGO microfigures, ranging from skeletons to pink ladies. One of the microfigures is a bizarre-looking Oscar-like statue that wears the crown on its head. The trophy-guy is goofy to look at... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a fun game but far from the best Lego Game, April 18, 2012

My wife and I picked this up on a lark. It was fun. I like the concept of Lego bricks and changeable games. This set looked like a good start since it has several games in one box. As adult board gamers we thought this was cute and fun. Sadly, we didn't play it often. However, it did convince us that this concept is solid so we picked up Magma Monster which was much more fun on its own. Magikus and other Lego Games have now entered our game closet and all of which are fun. As an adult board gamer Lego Champion is fun but not awe inspiring. The capability to change the rules is interesting and something that we should try next time this makes it to the table. Overall, we enjoyed this game but other games from the lineup have trumped it.

I am still happy that this is in our game closet since it is full of great spare parts. The Lego Game series uses microfigures for game pieces on most of the games. The figures are one piece and small but are painted with great personality... Read more

This is a great concept, and my boys love legos...but the rules to the game are too hard to remember during play after you finally figure them out, and we constantly have to refer back to the directions. My kids have had a good time making up their own rules (as is encouraged by the directions as well!) until the game breaks down when they disagree about what the rules should be (they are 7 and 5, so it's expected) I'm not sure how much game playing will be done with this, but it was a decent deal for the amound of legos you get anyway, so it will get some play time. Overall, it's not what I was expecting (shame on me for not reading more reviews). I'll update if it goes better the longer we have it.
